An Opportunity

Hi everyone, it's not every day that an opportunity knocks at your door when it does you're advised to take full advantage of it. As everyone knows this offseason has been off to a very slow start, while i believe Ohtani is undoubtebly the one responsible for a huge chunk of it, the Stanton sweeptakes is also to be noted, first the reason why i think its impact on the offseason as a whole is smaller than people think is that there are two teams really showing interest in acquiring the California native (STL, SF) and one other team from the outside looking in (LAD) beyond that everyone else has either no shot or no interest in acquiring the OF, that's 3 to 4 teams involved, not nearly enough to pause the hot stove, where as for Ohtani everyone is interested and everyone as a shot, with that being said let's get into topic.

I think is clear that as we stand today, the LA Dodgers have an opportunity and a very good one, remember a couple of years back when it had just been discovered that Aroldis Chapman was facing domestic violence charges at a time that the Reds were trying to move him, 28 teams backed out, but the NYY saw an opportunity and whether they knew or didn't of his innocence, they took a chance on him, well from a PR point of view, given that they acquired him for free basically, later on, he was flipped for prized prospect Gleyber Torres and they managed to resign him as a Free Agent, all in all, the Yankees turned 4 fringe minor leaguers into Gleyber Torres, Adam Warren, and Aroldis Chapman.

The Dodgers right now face a situation completely diferent, but with one thing in common, as they also face in theory no competition, how you ask, by now you probably know Stanton's number 1 choice is the Dodgers correct you also know he has a full a trade no clause correct, and laatly but also very crucial, the Marlins lost over 50 Million Dollars just last year, desperatly need to shred payroll, Giancarlo huge part of such payroll, hence the Marlins need to trade him, it's been well reported that LA is not going out of its way to get something done, but also not ruling it out, they are monitoring the situation from within striking distance if you will.

Here is what LA should do make an offer, one you feel comfortable with, make the worst plausible offer, something mildly justifiable, do that and let Stanton know, hey man we like you, but this is what we can offer Miami right now, Stanton obviously wants to go there he could say to Miami, you have an offer from LA i'll only acept a deal to go there, so you can either do it or pay me 28 Mil to play here next year, basically use the No Trade Clause as leverage to go where you want to, the key here is this, which is bigger Stanton's desire to leave is bigger than Miami's need to trade away his contract ? I really doubt it, if such notion isn't true, Miami is likely to eventually fold, remember this, people are not fond of losing money and keeping Stanton means that, there are several ways this couldn't happen, it probably won't, but it's an idea and one that could work.
